careful development within a historic environment / modern form of urban living / contemporary architectural language / two-level mini lofts / young target group

Located in Graz’s historic city center’s protected zone, this project brings together modern forms of living with contemporary architecture plus careful development within an historic environment. The new street facade is invigorated and makes reference to the surrounding buildings dating back to the early nineteenth century transporting the visitor with this new contemporary architectural language.   The opened courtyard is wide and green and offers small apartments – the so-called “mini lofts“-living on two floors in a space of 40-50m2. The spaces are partially open on the ground floor – providing communal spaces and areas to retreat to for privacy on the upper floors. A vertical living space is the resultant design. This concept provides a maximum sense of freedom for living despite the minimal area available. The communal courtyard area and the communally used roof terrace round off the property for a largely young target group (students).
