landscape park / carved building / grown over roof / education / housing for teenagers / skateboard / graffiti / topography / green corridor
Characteristic of the extension and new development of “Aufwind”, a social-educational centre for children and adolescents, was an urban development approach that corresponds to including landscape and to the planning tasks in clever ways. Mixing the preservation of the existing structure with a new construction, the project approached the restructuring and calming of the “landscape park”. Keeping in line with existing topography, all new buildings fold themselves out of the existing terrain, maintaining and creating a maximum of green space. A part of the existing buildings was adapted and integrated in the ensemble. The united buildings, as result of the project, provide a communal space for the education of the young as well as a protected nature-related location for living and life.
