LINDWEG
NEW CONSTRUCTION OF A RESIDENTIAL BUILDING IN GRAZ
- Exterior Architecture

- Landscape Architecture
Located in-between an urban perimeter development in the south and a less densely built-up area in the north, the new residential building in Graz resonates with the park-like site protected by trees, lined along the western and southern plot boundaries. Spatially, the two volumes of the housing are aligned with the southern and western street axes, are molded by the height of neighboring buildings as well as the line of existing trees. The four-story and five-story masses are shaped by an interplay of varying loggias and balconies, creating a vivid but cohesive facade. Flexible shared spaces, arranged around connecting stairways, and common outdoor area encourage interconnectedness with nature as well as between residents. Wooden boxes, extending the living area to the top, offer access to roof terraces and gardens, blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor. The dynamic residential housing with its hybrid exterior and dissolving contours blends seamlessly into the surrounding nature.
