micro restaurant / low-cost / temporary cityscape at the market square / maximum function in minimum space / vintage / openness / friendly & familiar
Renowned for its delicious Mediterranean cuisine and for a friendly and familiar atmosphere, Kaiser Joseph Platz’s market stand has been an established institution for years. The guidelines for this conversion and redevelopment were to use the same space and optimize functionality on the narrowest space while providing flexibility and ambience. The client´s goal was to offer a chic space but at the same time appear like we “knocked it together”. INNOCAD achieved this by creating a redesign that looks casual, a little shaky and not entirely new. The obvious charm of Schnabelweide is characterized by the vintage-looking materials, including the simulated patina on the wooden façade and the mix of high and low. The functional concept responds to the market like a temporary cityscape. When the variable elements of the building are “opened”, there are two over-roofed bars on the market side while the market extends into the interior. In its closed state, there is a “micro salon” with panorama windows.
