NEW CONSTRUCTION OF A MIXED USE SKYSCRAPER IN GRAZ

high-rise building / urban high-density / extensive open areas / artificial topographies / integration of public commercial functions / integration of the historical Messeschlössl / connection to the green areas
The task for the competition was to create a multifunctional building with the highest density at the same time. The INNOCAD’s concept was to pile up all functions vertically, which allows maximum density and a spacious designed outdoor space. Because of the large proportionality of the surrounding fair halls, the hybrid structure which seems like a folded and set up hall, insert into the environment harmoniously. Thereby a consisting park flows through the building and connects the adjoining fairgrounds with the green space in the north of the Tower Hall. For want of topographic qualities of this region, the outcome of this project is a landmark for the whole area and established also a relationship with the nearby city center.
